(15) We are BRAVE! We are STRONG! We are IMMUNIZED!

There are lots of things I would like to have happen before we go; and then there are those things that have to be done, but wish we didn't have to do. Most have BIG costs attached. I called the health department to find out the actual price to budget for our Yellow Fever Immunizations and if they had it in stock. The answer $200.01 each for 8 of us and the location closest to us didn't have it in. With these immunizations there are 2 discomforts: the shots and the price. There's no way around this or alternative, by law we have to get yellow fever immunizations.  It is highly recommended and not an option to us, as we want to protect our family, so we also need typhoid and malaria immunizations. As Becky and I visited at a park one day to talk about food shopping so we can budget and the daily task of hand washing laundry; we side tracked for a few minutes and she ask where and when we were getting yellow fever immunizations. When I told her she was shocked and actually laughed out loud. I asked how much they paid, not even considering that there were any other places we could go to get it. She told me to check the health clinic at BYU. They had paid maybe $50 less for each and she didn't think the price had gone up that much. As soon as I got home I prayed and called the clinic. The receptionist said they have plenty on hand, they are $151 each with a $22 fee to administer them for a total of $173 each, she sounded apologetic but I was thrilled. By the end of the phone call we had 8 appointments set and in the same time block, so we wouldn't have to make several trips. To all these miracles there was yet another it was only a week away. A two minute sidetrack in a conversation and a $216.08 savings later and we were scheduled to check the next thing off the list that had to be done. I cried and prayed to give thanks. On September 10th we hadn't earned all  the money we needed yet but between what we had earned and what we had left from a bonus at the beginning of the year we had enough (another miracle to have money left from February). We have two family members that dislike shots so much that they feel sick, pass out, and one pulls out strength enough that it can take 3 adults to try to hold them down. It was a miracle that all got the shots and no one got sick,  passed out, or fought against it. As a reward we went to BYU Creamery and that evening our dear friends the Loewen's agreed to let us come over; since that was one of the children's request as a reward. Our Father's tender mercies and miracles are all along our path. On all our paths there are little discomforts (and big ones) but the possibilities that result from accepting and working through them far out way the discomforts.
