(8) Not always excited and happy
As we made our 3rd attempt to get passport pictures taken, on July 30, I realized that most of these posts are of how excited and wonderful this all is. Well, for those of you that feel like this isn't realistic, unfortunately you are correct. Surprisingly getting passport pictures taken was vary difficult and emotional for a few of the children. WE are weak at times. This is HARD. There are so many people and things we will miss. There are experiences and events that will happen without us. There are foods we will have to give up for a time. There are foods we may not like that we will need to eat. There are things we may have to sell or get rid of. The petty things that seem a no-brainer from the outside in exchange for what we will have and experience, but we are human, we are weak. We have moments of sadness, selfishness, anger. It's not that we will never have most if not all of these again but things will change. We will change. Change is hard, especially when we like how things are and we want them to last forever just the way they are. But the truth is change happens all the time anyway, whether we are here or not. We welcome your prayers as well, because we need the powers of heaven to help us. And we pray. We pray that we will overcome our weakness and selfishness. We pray for a way to be made possible; for those we will be blessed to meet; for the experiences we will have, and the opportunities that this brings for the future; the refining that we need, the change in each of us. We pray for one another and that we will have deeper, stronger relationships in our family. And ultimately, our relationship with and increased awareness of our dependence on and gratitude for our Savior! It is because of Him that this desire exists. It is for Him that we will do all that is before us. It is through Him that we will be able to do it.
